Luke Shannon, PhD is an automotive engineer, ASE-certified technician, researcher, and repeat founder based in Greenville, South Carolina. He is now building LemonFreeAuto, an AI-enabled mobile pre-purchase inspection company, and StudentStartups.ai, a platform helping students become founders.

Luke Shannon, PhD has spent 29 years learning complex systems from more than one side. He began as an automotive technician trained at Universal Technical Institute, co-founded the performance shop Never Enough Racing, and worked in professional off-road motorsports. He later earned degrees from UC Santa Barbara and Colorado School of Mines, built a career in technical consulting, and created the SubaruONLY automotive media platform and performance business. At Clemson University, his Automotive Engineering doctoral research applied hybrid modeling, machine learning, and physical knowledge to plastics and composites manufacturing. In 2026, LemonFreeAuto placed second in Clemson’s Spark Challenge. Today, Luke is building LemonFreeAuto, which combines AI guidance with ASE-certified mobile inspections, and StudentStartups.ai, which gives high school, trade-school, and college students practical founder infrastructure. He is based in Greenville, South Carolina and works at the intersection of automotive intelligence, AI, education, and entrepreneurship.
